At Head Hunters Skull Works, we use multiple professional skull cleaning methods to ensure every trophy receives the care it deserves. Each method has its own advantages, and we select the process best suited for your species, skull structure, and desired outcome. Our goal is always the same—to preserve your trophy with exceptional quality while maintaining its natural detail and integrity.

Boiling

Boiling is our most commonly used cleaning method and remains the preferred process for most antlered game. When performed properly, it provides a clean, durable finish while allowing for the quickest turnaround time. It is also our preferred method for traveling hunters who need their trophy completed before returning home.

Expedited Service for Traveling Hunters

We proudly offer expedited 24-hour and 48-hour turnaround services whenever possible. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with your state's regulations regarding the transportation of big game trophies, as interstate laws vary and may restrict how trophies can be transported.

Maceration

Maceration is a specialized cleaning process that uses warm water and naturally occurring beneficial bacteria to gently remove tissue from the skull. Although it requires more time than other methods, it is one of the most effective ways to preserve intricate features such as nasal cavities and other delicate bone structures that can be damaged by more aggressive cleaning methods. Once the cleaning process is complete, the skull is thoroughly degreased, whitened, and prepared for display.

  Applies when skinning is required prior to the cleaning process.

• Rush Service: $100
  Available for qualifying projects requiring a turnaround time of 48 hours or less.
